TBP 0021 Salem Salem Massachusetts – Trip in Review

Posted on 19 October 2013 by Leslie Lello

This is a follow up to last week’s podcast, to round out the bits about Salem Massachusetts that I was not sure about.

Most important additions to TBP 0020 (last week’s podcast):

  • Parking (the main garage in the mall) is $20. Be aware of that so that you don’t get sticker shock.
  • There is a walking tour provided in most of the tourist guidebooks. The tour follows a red line that is literally painted on the ground. Very helpful!
  • If you’d rather take the Salem Trolley, one of the locals said it was awesome and a really good deal for your money. I haven’t done it but probably will on my next trip!

Happy Travel!

TBP 0018 Ski Utah Powder

Posted on 28 September 2013 by Leslie Lello

Winter is on it’s way! Time to talk skiing!

SKI UTAH!

Inspired by a mega Ski Group Meet-up in New York, I decided to create a show about Utah, one of my favorite places to ski.

I got really jazzed when one of the groups was telling me about their upcoming trip to Brighton, which is one of many ski resorts located around Salt Lake City.

I have skied Utah many times. Most experiences were great but the last time resulted in an injury for the person I was with so I also became very familiar with Salt Lake City, which I also talk about on the podcast.

But most of the focus of today’s podcast is on Park City and the ski resorts that are located around Park City.

  1. Dear Valley (skiers)
  2. Park City
  3. Canyons

I talk about packing strategy, too. When you fly to Utah for the skiing, it’s good to know what NOT to bring because between equipment and bulky clothes, there’s already a ton of stuff to drag from the baggage carousel.

Finally, I also talk about some lodging strategies if you are planning to be in Park City during Sundance Film Festival, which is not only a great time to see some great flicks, but the slopes are great at that time, too.

I mentioned on the podcast a lift ticket /ski ticket deal with The Canyons. I have information on last year’s deal, and actually, several ski resorts participated. I have not seen any information on whether this deal is happening this year (2013-2014). Here is some information on last year’s deal (Look at listing number 4 on this webpage): http://www.saltlakecityonthecheap.com/free-or-cheap-ski-lift-tickets-in-utah/

*** Sorry no pix this week… photos are trapped on a grumpy computer other than the one I am typing on right now.  Will revise later when I have access. ***

TBP 0005: Who knows about the Southern New Hampshire Coastline?

Posted on 30 June 2013 by Leslie Lello

Breaking New Grounds - Fav Coffeehouse in Portsmouth NH!

Breaking New Grounds – Favorite Coffeehouse in Portsmouth NH!

I recently was in contact with an old friend on the Southern New Hampshire Coastline, and it reminded me of all of the great things I love and miss about New Hampshire.

I lived there for a while so I can give you some ideas of how to spend your time.

The New Hampshire Coastline is a great place to spend a few days, whether you are choosing to only visit that area or to make it part of a larger road trip.

This week’s podcast focuses on the southern New Hampshire coast and all of the places that I learned about while I was living in that area.

Below are links to some of the places that I mention in this week’s podcast.

Happy Travels!

Leslie

Just to clarify… Strawberry Banke is a museum that I have not visited, but when I lived in the area I used to refer to the park across the street at Strawberry Banke. The real name across the street is called Prescott Park.

For those of you traveling with pets… It was very hard to find pet-friendly hotels in the Portsmouth area that didn’t cost a fortune or weren’t a complete dive, so I cannot make any recommendations for pet travel, but if you bring your dog, Portsmouth has a really nice dog park on the outskirts of town.
